Lie defined as "an intentionally false statement" by Google.A pretty straight 4 word definition of 3 letter word, ain't it? So intentionally stating a false statement is a lie. A lie has become a habit of many in these days. These lies vary from a smallest size to largest magnitude. Think about it what forces us to lie? Situations? Greed? Insecurity? Fear? Inferiority? Yes, you can list out a score reasons you would think are good enough for you to lie. Our whole life is a decision of whether to lie or to speak the truth and most of the times we know what wins the race. So lie, is it just speaking out the false? Well if you think so then it is least bothering for us, but the science has other results to speak of. Well lying is a lot of hard work, if you didn't know. It takes more memory in our brain. We need to remember all the cooked up stories when we are lying so as to get away from being caught and that certainly is more effort then speaking the truth. Lies can be very harmful in cases and can be life saver in some other. I have been reading a lot lately about lies in recent times and here are some of the top reasons that people give to lie:
1). To save a relationship from breaking.
2). To ease the situation/stressful situation or to comfort someone.
3). Out of inferiority. To exaggerate about things and present yourself as what you are not.
4). To avoid trouble(getting into fights/arguments/physical violence)/to gain something(out of Greed).
These reasons stood out among a heap of such things that were mentioned as a reason behind a lie. I came across some blog recently saying that we generally lie around 10-200 time a day. So, it is a good exercise to keep our memory sharp and running. Though it is taught to be a malpractice to us since the childhood days we use it very often. I simply found that we cannot judge or classify lie into a good or bad under any circumstance. I found a quote on this point which states,
“Lies are neither bad nor good. Like a fire they can either keep you warm or burn you to death, depending on how they're used.” The quote says it all I suppose, but then I think we don't need to lie when we are certain of things but we might face situations in life when we have to lie just to make sure we save the day from a big fight or something like that that could have caused more pain then to learn that we lied. It all ends on the point that lies are good friends to have in some situations, just good friends mind you! They if acquainted can bring down everything in a flash. The costliest investment "trust" is lost forever in a quest to keep company with lies. Be careful and smart to lie! ;) If you know what I mean.
